We want you to use your digital camera and take pictures of certain items. Be Creative and use your Imagination. A Pizza & Pasta Buffet Dinner is included where everyone can share their pictures. If you don’t have a digital camera then draw the items!!!

This annual event is always a great party! Please make sure you get your tickets early as it sells out fast every year. We have local Kenora live band act Fat City coming in for the rocking entertainment and a great meal planned at Smith Camp’s who always do a great job.

Handi Transit Poker Derby (Sat, Feb 11)

The Sunset Trail Riders have again teamed up with Kenora Handi Transit to raise some funds for this terrific organization and we hope you will support them as well! On Saturday, February 11th we will be leaving from the A&W restaurant in Kenora with the registration from 9 to 11 a.m.. Then we head down the new Cross Town Corridor and head down the “A” Trail to the Witch Bay warm up shelter. Representatives from Handi Transit will be at the shelter serving Hot Dogs and hot chocolate for donations so please make sure you plan on having lunch there. Then, with any donation to Handi Transit, you will be handed a coupon for a wildcard which will help you out with your poker hand.

Once you leave the Witch Bay shelter you have your choice of several routes back home. You and your group can take the short way back via the Dogtooth Trail or head down to Sioux Narrows and stop in at Gills Trading Post or even to Stewart Lake for coffee and a snack and then back on the Pipeline trail. The derby will then return to A&W between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. where the hands will be sorted and the winners announced.

A Trail West Potential Blockage

Dear Membership:

Message to all Sunset Trail Rider Snowmobile Club Members and Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs Seasonal Pass Holders.

The OFSC and the STR have been put on notice by Shoal Lake Band # 39 of a potential blockade on the “A” trail near Shoal Lake, Ontario, Canada.

In the event that there is a blockade of the trail we ask our ridership to simply turn back and to not politicize the blockade and draw attention to the actions of the band. Unfortunately our ridership is sometime subject to outside forces which we cannot control.

Youth Driver Training Course (Feb 11)

Description: The Sunset Trail Riders are again putting on Drivers Training Courses for people who want to get their snowmachine license!

Here’s what you need to know to enroll:
•Cost is $40.00 per course (includes all required course material).
•Driver Training courses are in-class only (NO operation of a snowmobile during class).
•MUST be 12 yrs old on or before the day of the course.
•Must present a valid form of identification at registration. (Birth Certificate or Photo Health Card)
•Course will be approximately 8 hours including registration, lunch and breaks. Bring your lunch, snacks and water for the day, dress comfortably.

The next course will be held on February 11th and they must be signed up for in advance by calling 807-468-3933. Thanks!

Winter Blast Ride

Description: Come join us on our first Winter Blast Ride, a one day special event to showcase our trail to Witch Bay Warm Up Shelter.

In place of our poker derby this weekend, we are doing this special event ride which will start at 9:00 a.m. from A&W restaurant. Special event passes will be available.

Due to low snow conditions, we have moved the date of our first 2012 poker derby to Saturday, Feb 11, 2012.
